Courchevel Resort Information

Courchevel 1550 is one of the 5 villages that make up the resort of Courchevel, the others being Courchevel 1650, Courchevel 1850, Le Praz and La Tania which are for unknown reasons known by there original names whilst the others are named for the height of the village. All 5 villages share the same ski area and create the most varied and extensive sector of the Three Valley ski area, which links Courchevel, to Meribel, St Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires and Val Thorens.

A huge variety of slopes, Terrain Park and half pipe will keep skiers and snowboarders entertained during a skiing holiday in Courchevel. However, exploring the whole of the 3 Valleys ski area is easy thanks to the modern lift system of chairs and gondolas.

Courchevel 1550 is a quiet village, offering cheaper entertainment and restaurants in comparison to the higher villages and is an ideal destination for family holidays. Although located lower down the mountain it is only a gondola ride away from Courchevel 1850 and from there access to the rest of the ski area is simple. Skiers can access the upper slopes of the resort by taking the 6 person high-speed gondola up to the hub of the Courchevel 1850, La Croisette, or choose to take one of two other lifts leading up to the ridge separating the resort from Meribel. Whilst skiing in Courchevel 1550, other activities to try include snow-shoeing, snow-mobiling, ice-climbing, swimming and ice-skating. Courchevel 1550 is home to some friendly bars, internet cafes and restaurants, with the atmosphere in general being rather peaceful and suitable for families.
