Les Deux Alpes Resort Information

The resort Les Deux Alpes is amoungst one of Europes highest resorts, the main village sits at an altitude of 1650m and is surrounded by glaciers, the resort has an over all altitude of 1300m - 3568m from the lowest ski point to the highest.  Les Deux Alpes is situated on the edge of the beautiful Ecrins National park, where the northern and southern French alps meet.   This modern and lively resort can boast numerous shops, bars, cafes, over 60 restaurants and 10 mountain restaurants. Les Deux Alpes is well known for its lively apres ski night life with plenty of bars and 2 nightclubs.

There is plenty on offer after the slopes have closed or for non skiiers from the 2 bowling alleys with arcade video-games, both with lively cafe-bars and one of which has pool tables, cinema, heated outdoor swimming pool, ice rink, fitness centres, spa and turkish baths.  The indoor pool at the Aqua Centre des 2 Alpes is open daily from 3pm to 8pm and features a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.  Also on offer are snow scooters and horse and sleigh outings, an area reserved for tobboganing.  Snowshoeing and winter walking trails, ice climbing and the ice caves at 3400m on the glacier.  There is a free bus shuttle service 8am until 8pm everyday to transport you around the resort.

Les Deux Alpes offers snow-sure glacier skiing with year round skiiing. There is immediate slope access in all directions, if you are accommodated in the main resort you are never more than a short walk from the slopes.  Most of the skiing is on the eastern side of the resort and is often refered to as “upside-down”, as the lower slopes down to the resort are steeper and more challenging than the higher ski areas, including the wide and forgiving glacier runs, there are a number of easier slopes nearer the resort as the glacier flattens out.   The glacier, which can be excessed by the Jandri Express gondolas I & II,  tends to cater for all levels of skiier so even beginners can experience the spectacular views high altitude skiing has to offer.  Les Deux Alpes forms part of the Grand Galaxie ski area along with Alpe d’Huez, La Grave, Puy St Vincent and Vaujany.
